I certainly am not an expert on search engine optimization and don’t claim to know anything about it. What I am is a real estate broker that created a website only 7 months ago and have now seen it jump to the first and second pages of Google in near record time. Two months ago (the 5th month of the site) my site was already inside the top 50 sites in my market area on Google and is now consistently inside the top 15 sites for my market area.

The first major thing I did is take the advice of a friend of mine by the name of Karen George which I met on Active Rain. Karen very simply suggested that we do away with all the garbage information every site has and write a lot of original and unique content. I did just that and went on a writing rampage. This immediately jumped my site to one of the top 50 sites for my market area in a matter of 5 months.

The second thing I did was to listen to another Active Rain member by the name of Mary McKnight and I started backlinking to many sites, especially EDU sites. Mary stated that Google loves EDU sites because they have been around since the inception of the web and are considered very credible. One of the sites Mary recommended is The Sloan Center Simply go to this site and comment on as many blogs as you can. When you add a comment you will be asked to enter the URL of your website which you want to do. By doing this you automatically have created a backlink to your site which is powerful since this site has a page rank of 6.

The third thing I did was to listen to yet another Active Rain member by the name of Riel Roussopoulos which recommended I download Comment Kahuna which is one of the most amazing sites I have ever seen. This site allows you to enter all your information and then allows you to type in any subject. Immediately several sites along with their PR ranking will pop up. You can then comment on a number of articles in a matter of minutes. When you comment on these sites your URL is automatically entered. The beauty is that you can choose the minimum page rank of the sites you comment on. Comment daily on just a few of these sites and inside a week you will build some powerful backlinks to your site.

There it is. These are the tips that skyrocketed my site Search Idaho Homes up the Google ladder.
