Divshare apology for data breach

Divshare members have been warned that the company suffered a security breach that allowed a hacker to access its database.
Information accessed by the hacker included email addresses and other “basic profile data”.

Members received an email from the service last night warning them of the data breach but reassuring them that no financial information had been accessed.

“No financial information has been accessed by any unauthorized parties. We have taken extreme measures to secure the site in the last 12 hours and are currently in the process of rolling out new security precautions,” the statement said.

Divshare temporarily took all members’ files offline and implemented a new security system, though full access to the files has now been restored, the company said.

“We can’t apologize enough for allowing this breach to take place. We know how important security is for all our members and their files, and we are taking every precaution available to ensure that this doesn’t happen again,” the statement reads.

The company advised all members to change their passwords.
