Wipro did nothing wrong: Premji to employees

Hours after World Bank made public that Wipro [Get Quote] has been debarred from doing any business with the global lender, the company’s chairman Azim Premji wrote to its over 100,000 employees saying that the company had not done anything unethical.

Apple on the Need for Anti-Virus Software: Now You Do, Now You Don’t

A number of news outlets reported yesterday that Apple had changed its longstanding stance that Macs don’t need anti-virus software. Given that one of Apple’s more prominent Get a Mac Ads touts the Mac’s immunity to viruses, the sudden change of heart seems newsworthy, except that Apple has been suggesting that users run anti-virus software for some time.

Microsoft to launch online SharePoint, Exchange on Monday

Microsoft will release on Monday the first of several of its hosted business-productivity services.
The company will launch Exchange Online and SharePoint Online at an event in San Francisco, according to an e-mail from its public relations firm. A spokeswoman from the agency confirmed that the services will be available Monday.

Sun Microsystems to cut up to 6,000 jobs

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Sun Microsystems Inc said on Friday it will cut 5,000 to 6,000 jobs, as the economic crisis compounds the company’s struggles with depressed demand for its high-end business computers.

British Telecom to cut 10,000 jobs

Satyam Buys Motorola’s Malaysian Software Development Center

Well, Motorola’s been in a lot of trouble, and were earlier reported to be in talks with Videocon for selling their handsets business. It appears that the company has sold its sofware development center in Cyberjaya to Satyam. The Kuala Lumpur based center has 128 employees, and will strengthen Satyam’s capabilities to cater to Network Equipment Providers and telecom operators, according to Nishith Mathur, head of Satyam’s Technology Infrastructure business unit.
